How to Choose
These are not mutually exclusive, and for most contractors they are not meant to be.
Use a general board
When your hiring runs past the trades
Hire office roles as well as trades
One board covers the whole payroll, not just the crews
Reach the widest audience there is
Every industry and every role, on one job board
Screen on a job title, not a license
No state license or certification field to filter on
Sort a big pool yourself
More applications, and more of them off target
Use a trades board
When you are posting for the skilled trades
Hire mostly tradespeople
Electricians, welders, pipefitters, plumbers, HVAC
Run travel or per diem crews
The daily rate is a field on the post, not buried in the text
Screen on licenses and credentials
State licenses and certifications, with expiry dates
Start from a pool that fits
A smaller pool, and it is there for trades work

What is the best job board for construction hiring?
It depends on what you hire, and any page that answers it in one word is selling you something. If most of the people you hire work in a trade, a trades-only board puts your post in front of a smaller audience where every person is relevant. If you also fill office, shop and warehouse roles, a general board covers all of it in one place. Plenty of contractors run one of each, because those two hires behave nothing alike.
What does it cost to post a construction job?
On SkilledTrades.com it is $40 a month for a local job slot or $80 a month for a per diem slot, with unlimited applications and no per-click fee. ConstructionJobs.com charges $325 for a single 30-day post. iHireConstruction starts at $369 a month. Indeed allows three free posts a calendar month and sets sponsored pricing by auction, so no fixed figure can be quoted for it. ZipRecruiter publishes no employer price. Every figure here was read off that company's own pricing page in September 2026.
Can I post a per diem or travel job on these boards?
You can describe per diem work on any of them, but the daily rate is a searchable field on SkilledTrades.com only. Indeed has one pay field on a job post and it is for salary, so a daily rate can only go in the description text where nobody can search or sort by it. On Indeed the phrase "per diem" also already means as-needed shift work, mostly in nursing, so a pipefitter searching it is shown hospital shifts.
ZipRecruiter has no per diem field either. For ConstructionJobs.com and iHireConstruction the posting form sits behind an employer login and no per diem field is described on their public pages. We could not confirm it either way for those two, so the table says so rather than claiming it does not exist.
What is a job slot?
A subscription that keeps one job post live. Slots are reusable, so when a job is filled you can close it and post a different one in its place as many times as you like without paying again. SkilledTrades.com and iHireConstruction both work this way. A per-post price, like ConstructionJobs.com's $325, buys one posting for a fixed number of days instead, and filling the job early does not give you anything back.
Do I have to pick just one?
No, and most contractors do not. The common pattern is a general board for office and support roles and a trades board for the crews. Nothing in our pricing assumes you stopped using anywhere else, and there is no contract to unwind if you decide we are not worth keeping.
Try It on One Job
The only comparison that tells you anything about your own market is running the same opening on two boards and counting who applies.
